SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January, 20, 2007)—A recent study by the Aberdeen group, sponsored by ELT, found that "companies with established eLearning solutions for compliance and ethics management have experienced a 73% decline in corporate risk and exposure related issues." One of the main reasons for this, as noted in the report, is that companies who don't have an eLearning solution are plagued with ineffective communications around such issues. Furthermore, the report found the companies that have not implemented an eLearning platform are at risk of not meeting compliance.
"Given the nature of today's corporate environment, as well as the geographic reach of people and resources, these statistics are not surprising," said Shanti Atkins, President & CEO of ELT. "Because of the numerous challenges and time restraints in deploying key ethics training, the eLearning platform is key in driving automated awareness, which many need to be compliant."
Besides a reduction in negative issues, firms that have invested in an eLearning solution for their ethics and compliance management needs are benefiting by "attracting and retraining employees, improving accountability across the enterprise and financial gains through automated technology solutions to drive awareness and education."
Other findings of the report include the following:
- Best-in-Class companies work with solution providers that can tailor the solution to their specific requirements without compromising content or features
- "More than 57% of respondents see "Code of Conduct" as a core feature of any eLearning investment, which is not surprising since the basic premise for this solution is to provide the needed education and awareness on corporate mandates, policies and ethics."
-
Companies should ensure their chosen solutions meet the following criteria
- "The solution of choice must offer a strong focus on two key components: code of conduct and a certification program."
